hello

Oh, hello. I didn’t see you there.

While I’m here I may as well tell you about the bevy of baked goods hanging out by my front window which include but are by no means limited to kringla (scandinavian sweet pretzel), cherry berliners, plum berliners, frosted strawberry tarts, frosted brown sugar tarts, uber-fresh Van Staden Mosbolletjies, maple granola bread, mushroom and miso bread, rustic baguettes, artisan sourdough loaves, old world ciabatta, and some asiago-onion sourdough loaves.

I also made some simply lovely spinach salads with local “Stellar” apples from A&A Orchards near Blue Eye, walnuts, and local chevre from Terrell Creek Farms in Fordland!

Anyhow, it was good to bump into you.

Have a great Wednesday!

badger, badger, mushroom!

KatieMade is debuting her delicious new Mushroom and Miso bread today. Fantastic crusty loaf with a mild savory flavor. Just an added bonus that it happens to look just like a badger.

baked greats

Dear fellow humans,

For those of you out there that aren’t afraid of a little gluten we’ve recently stumbled upon a bevy baked goods that honestly should be called baked greats… because… well… you know.

We’re talkin’ chocolate croissants (oui), maple cream and apple croissants (oui oui), cherry berliners (ja), Scandinavian sweet pretzels (oh my), almond bear claws (even Goldilocks wouldn’t run away from these), and lets not forget the tried and true KatieMade Van Staden Mosbollettjies sweet bread as well as the perennial favorite Wild Rice and Onion Bread

While supplies last, folks!

The critics are raving, “Der Sandwich is definitely food!”

What you’ve got here isn’t, by any stretch or contortion of the imagination, your ordinary sandwich in that it isn’t solely comprised of bread and filling. Nay, this sandwich also contains (at no extra charge, of course) hopes, dreams, and that ever desirable condiment known as locally sourced cultural-horizon-expansion. Indeed, this creation is an allusion to that lovely time of the year when EVERYONE, well, most people, errrr, a, quite real, positive integer of human beings throw on their lederhosen, sip their beer of choice, and wear pretzels like jewelry. The Homegrown Food Cultural Advisory Board proudly presents the aptly named “Der Sandwich”. All apologies to our Bavarian brothers and sisters if any offense is taken as none was intended.
