Homegrown Food is like a consignment shop for local food. Our program allows us to source from numerous farmers, growers, and gardeners and makes it all easily accessible to consumers.
In addition to our store located at Pickwick and Cherry, we offer delivery to local institutions, workplaces, and neighborhoods. Individual members can shop the web store, stocked by farmers, and pick their food up at a pre-selected location and time convenient to them. We have Markets set up at various locations and times when we will be present to deliver the food that has been ordered. We can even accommodate restaurants.
First, we want to supply folks with fresh food that tastes great. We want people to know exactly where their food is coming from and encourage individuals to choose food that comes from close to home. All of our food will be labeled with its origin and the method used in its cultivation. Second, we want to simplify the process of eating great food that is better for us, better for the environment, and better for our community. We want to eliminate the challenge of getting local food by providing simple outlets for farmers that are easy for consumers to access. Third, we want to support local farmers who work hard to provide the best food to our community. It is our hope that Homegrown will create enough demand for local food that our own farmers will see increased sales and less waste of their products.
